There are certain men I’m trained to avoid, and Harrison Evans is topping that list.

He’s rugged and charming, with eyes that dare you to keep looking and a grin that could make a nun rethink her vows. But Mr. Chiseled-to-the-nth-degree practically has Don’t Even Think About It tattooed across every inch of his ridiculously well-sculpted muscles. Muscles I got a little too familiar with during one very long, very unforgettable one-night stand.

And let’s be honest--he’s in New York, and I’m in LA. When does long-distance ever end well?

Plus, he’s a widower. With three kids. No matter how much my heart reaches out for him, his will always be barricaded behind walls ten feet high, right?​

The one night with her was supposed to be just that--One. Night.

Now my mission is to protect her. A favor to a man I served with.

 

Okay, fine. Here are my rules of engagement:

1. Do not get attached. I’ve got enough on my plate with three adorable, albeit chaotic, kids. And don’t even get me started on what Ollie just put in the blender and dared me to eat. Bleh. (Yeah, I ate it. A little. Because when an 8-year-old dares me, my ego will not say no. And I may have survived enemy fire, but I’ve never known real terror until I realize all the peanut butter, sardines, an entire tube of toothpaste, and the mystery meat from the freezer have mysteriously vanished.)

2. No staring. At her perfectly plump lips…or those legs that go on for miles. Eyes up here, frogman. She’s a mission, not a mid-life crisis.

3. Absolutely, positively, do not rinse and repeat the one-night stand. They call it a one-night stand for a reason--the clue is in the name.

But with Ava around, sticking to the “mission” might just be my toughest assignment yet.
